Comment on Family Office Article in “The Sunday Telegraph” 21/08/16
Interesting article regarding family offices . Some well made points regarding the definition of a family office which seems to appear on any company’s website vaguely related to wealth management these days. Even the term “family office” needs further clarification and there is a distinction between a single family office and multi family office which I won’t go into here. In truth, very few are “pure” family offices…most turn out to be asset gatherers or selling some service.
The article also touches upon the growth of family offices. From the conversations I have with clients/prospective clients, I only see the trend continuing as U/HNW individuals/families become fatigued dealing with private banks in light of events over the past few years and the market become increasingly sophisticated with a variety of platforms available.
